Creativity Is

Beth's work in progress

When I am asked why I write, why I paint, the reply is simple.

I do it because I have to.

I bleed soul words and press my heart to canvas through a laden brush, and it puts my heart back in order.

And like many, if not all, artists, I long to provide for my family’s needs with my creative work.  But if it didn’t work out like that — if I never made another thin cent from what I create — I would do it anyway.  I would have to.

Creativity, for me, is life.

Today I am writing over at Thorns and Gold as a part of Tanya's Christianity + Creativity series!

  1. Such a great post. I also find the need to create, but more in a handi-craft sort of way (sewing, handmade cards, etc.). And I very much agree that taking the time for it allows me to give more to the ones I love.

My brother-in-law recently graduated with a degree in Graphic Design. The director of the program said many times that afternoon, God was the original creator of beauty, and when we create, we reflect that part of His image. I loved that.

  2. YES.

Beth, your heart will never cease to astonish me and bowl me over with the power of your spirit and life. <3

  3. This is absolutely beautiful. I love reading your writings and seeing your art...it reveals so much love! Blessings! <3
