Sweaty Art-Making

This has been a slow week, creatively. It's been near one hundred degrees here everyday, I think, and we don't have an air conditioner. I've been camping out in our basement, but all my art supplies are upstairs. So . . . not much art has been happening. But I did manage to get a couple of new things started, like my first paper doll set.

Paper dolls!  I was obsessed with paper dolls as a kid.  It was impossible for me to get enough of them.  I could spend hours and hours cutting them out and dressing my dolls in their adorable outfits, and just admiring the art. So to start making my own? It has been a really sweetly emotional and nostalgic endeavor.

Other than that, I've been working furiously on my Etsy shop.  There are loads of new prints in there now.  My goal is to get it to the point where it requires minimal effort to maintain by the time this rainbow boy arrives.

He is kicking and bumping around as I write this, and I am overcome all over again.  Love is terrifying, but what would we do with out it?

  7. We used to draw paperdolls when we were kids and I loved playing with my sisters! Now I play Sims Freeplay! Entirely different! If you don"t take care of them, they go "smelly" and pee all over the place! Nice work! Patsy from

  8. The paper dolls are so cute!!! I LoVVVVe the top girl on the note book, do you sell those, or that print? I must be pretty miserable with no AC being pregnant, I am always super hot when I am pregnant anyway.SO glad to here baby boy is getting his workouts. I think you could make a fortune doing portraits of little girls in your artsy style, and I know a few stores in LA that would pick up those parer dolls :)

  10. Paper dolls - how fun! You poor hot thing! Hoping for cooler weather for all of us soon. Praying for you and your pregnancy, Beth. It is terrifying for you in ways I haven't experienced. Praying your hope overflows it's boundaries as you trust Him.

    1. Thanks, Jennifer! The temperature has come down here. It's funny -- a few weeks ago, temps in the 80s felt horrible, but after a week near 100, the 80s are downright balmy! :) Thank you so much for your prayers.
