{Sad Hope Songs} "Beauty Will Rise" by Steven Curtis Chapman

This song has been on repeat on my iPod since Eve died.  It has become my anthem.  As I wrote yesterday, the hope that I am clutching to through the questions and tears and darkness is that God will make something unbelievably lovely out of this present pain.
I hope.  Oh, how I hope.

Today, it is fourteen weeks since we said goodbye to our precious daughter.  I miss her so much.  Hope is all that's left now.  Maybe hope is all there ever was, all there ever is, for any of us.

Will you hope with me, for all of us?

Every weekend I share a song that has been particularly soothing or healing to me since my daughter, Eve, was stillborn. I call these “sad hope songs,” because they are usually melancholy sounding but also full of the beautiful hope that is born out of pain and suffering. To pass a song on to me, please leave your recommendation in the comments.

  1. Two songs to recommend. (I don't know if you've come across these yet.) They are really good: "Olivianna" by JJ Heller. The second one is "You Wouldn't Cry" by Mandisa. Both excellent!!! :-) See you tomorrow night. Do you want to meet again at the gas station in Florence or are you comfortable getting there on your own? Just let me know via a FB message. Thanks.

  3. So beautiful!
(Re: growing-up-together friends, it's so hard. Harder than I thought it would be. I'm a bit of a mess. Doesn't help that my due date is four days away).

  4. Hi Beth, I found you through the Small Bird Studios blog. I am so, so sorry for your loss. I love all the songs mentioned here. One that really got me through my season of infertility and miscarriages is Bethany Dillon's "The Kingdom" from her album Waking Up. It helped me to see that my babies' purpose went beyond this earth...which will never take away the pain but helped me find true hope. Praying for you today.

  6. This has been one of my absolute favorites in the aftermath of my abortion and Lily being stillborn. And just turning my back on Him and living for myself, ending up pregnant out of marriage. That God could bring beauty out of all that is breathtaking.

Another great one is "Beauty for Ashes" by Shane and Shane.
    And "Hallelujah" by Bethany Dillon.

I have a lot of other great songs listed on my resources page on my blog: http://www.roseandherlily.com/2010/07/resources.h...
